Opened in December 1921 under the name Café Elite, the Majestic is a good example of Porto’s Art Nouveau of the 1920s. At the time, it was frequented by writers and artists from the city and represented the chic Parisian. The Majestic is located on Santa Catarina street and is one of the most emblematic cafes in the city. 

In 1983 it was classified as a building of public interest and is considered by international references as one of the most beautiful cafes in the world. Both the exterior and interior are decorated in the Art Nouveau style, highlighting the magnificent marble facade, with two children holding a garland. The interior is decorated with mirrors, large carved metal lamps, sculptures of faces and half-naked figures in plasterwork that give it a special glamour. 

Its magnificent setting, typical of the early twentieth century, is very suitable for cinematographic scenes or for events such as the presentation of books or paintings. During the summer it is very common to hold poetry concerts or recitals.
